Overfed but undernourished?
As consumers, we often give too little thought to what we are actually taking into our bodies, or whether it is good or bad for us. The majority of foods common to our diet do NOT provide all the recommended daily nutrients we need, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, essential amino acids, and dietary fiber.
Two-thirds of all Americans are overweight or obese—and the numbers are rising steadily. We are consuming more food than ever, yet we have less energy and stamina as we watch our waistlines and backsides grow. The World Health Organization recently stated, “A change in dietary habits and physical activity has a major impact in reducing the rates of chronic diseases.” So how do we offset the typically unhealthy American diet and lifestyle?
Hippocrates said, “Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food.” SISEL scientists have taken this philosophy to heart by combining Moringa oleifera, “the miracle tree”, with a nutrient-rich collection of amazing ancient grains: Chia, Amaranth, Quinoa, Buckwheat, and Millet. Prized in folk medicine for hundreds of uses for thousands of years, each of these ingredients are exceptionally nutritious and gluten free. For example:
Dried Moringa leaf provides:
- 17x the Calcium in milk
- 0.5x the Vitamin C in oranges
- 10x the Vitamin A in carrots
- 15x the Potassium in bananas
- 25x the Iron in spinach
- 9x the Protein in yogurt
Chia provides:
- 8x more Omega-3 than salmon
- 6x more Calcium than milk
- 3x more Iron than spinach
- 2x more Potassium than bananas
- 15x more Magnesium than broccoli
- 2x more Fiber than bran flakes
- 6x more Protein than kidney beans
- 4x more Selenium than flax seed
- 9x more Phosphorus than whole milk
- More Antioxidants than blueberries
